Sri Hanumaan Jayanti
Today our community observes Sri Hanumaan Jayanti. The occasion marks the birth of Lord Hanumaan. Our temples will be performing Pooja to Sri Hanumaanji, chant his glories in the form the Sri Hanumaan Chalisa and reflect on his greatness.
Sri Hanumaanji, known as Mahaveera—the great hero is an ideal exemplar of all paths, methods and practices which lead to Mukti—unity with the Supreme Self—the ultimate goal of every human.
In one life Hanumaanji—Anjanee Putra and Keshari —the son Anjanee and Keshari distinguished himself a true follower of each path. He is the perfect Karma Yogi—he works selflessly in service to Lord Raam. In fact, the Ramayana says, ‘raam kaaj lagi tava avatar’—he is born only to do the work of Lord Raam.
As Raambhakta—devotee of Shri Raam he demonstrated flawlessly what real Bhakti(devotion) means. Raam Naam—the name of Raam defines his conduct. Indeed, a true Bhakti Yogi.
As a Jnani or a practitioner of the path of knowledge, Hanumaanji as Shankara Suvana—Shiva himself imbibe in the highest of self knowledge. He is ‘gyaana guna saagar’—an ocean of knowledge.
Pawanasut, Sri Hanumaanji remains a source of inspiration to the Hindu community and indeed the world at large. A pure devotee of Lord Raam and in fact a character of power and glory who continues to mould our own lives in service, devotion and knowledge so much so that he is worshipped on the same altar of Lord Raam and even more prominently than Raam. He lives Raam. He breathes Raam.
May his grace continue to guide us along the noble paths of devotion, knowledge and service.
Jai Sri Hanumaan!
