From whom must the Hindu Community seek redress?

The Hindu Media Guyana (THMG) join hands with every Hindu today to defend our glorious Sanaatana Dharma. We denounce and vehemently condemn the today’s latest coward, vile and galling assault against us.

Attacks on Hindus and Hinduism are not new to the conscious Hindu. For thousands of years Hinduism that is Sanaatana Dharma has been mercilessly attacked, blasphemed and denigrated across the world. Bhaarat (India), the motherland of Hindus lived the deadliest of attacks throughout Her history. To this date onslaughts against Her has not ceased.

In the new lands her children were taken to under the indentured system marred as it were with exploitation of every kind, religious and racial onslaughts, yet her children persevered, certainly not without losing significant a number of them as a result of institutionalized conversion and economic exploitation.

If one had taught even for a fleeting moment, in the 21st century in this part of the world the Hindu would have finally been freed from disrespect, blasphemy and virtual persecution of his faith and heritage is but an illusion and still, indeed, an aspiration yet to be realized. This past month has seen a persistent and systematic online smear campaign, vile attack and abuse unleashed with impunity against Hinduism in Guyana. Each week has witnessed a progressing, seemingly unending disrespect to the Hindu community and culture.

The Gracious Mother Lakshmee

Last week, the Tuschen Phase 2 Mandir was broken into and desecrated. Today, one week later, Hindus are issuing endless statements in condemnation of the abuse meted out to us. Last week, Mother Lakshmee’s Murti was shattered, this week the highest ideals She symbolizes in our culture have been descended dastardly in cesspool of profanity.  No other faith or group in Guyana in recent past has had to undergo this. Certainly, they won’t because the Hindu is taught as a fundamental principle of Hinduism, universal toleration and diversity on matters of faith and worship.

The question then behooves, from whom must the Hindu Community seek redress?
