PHAGWAH/HOLI
The colorful and festive occasion of Phagwah/Holi has dawned upon us. Our community will today celebrate with the almost endless color varieties of powder, abrack, abheer and water.
Phagwah is Vasant Utsav—the festival of spring. Spring ushers in life into nature—plants, animals, the environment and atmosphere all get a new lease of freedom, freshness and begin to blossom in their true glory. This manifestation of renewed energy and life is mimicked by the human through the colors of the festival. Hence the celebration of Phagwah.
Phagwah has existed as long as civilization has been. Lord Raama and Sri Krishna celebrated this festival during their times. Indeed, it has been an unbroken cord which connects us even today to a heritage and civilization of the finest.
On a personal spiritual level, the story of Bhakti—Love for the lord is encouraged during this festive period. Bhakta Prahalad is the finest example of true, unconditional and innocent love for the Lord.
Shubh Holi to all!
