Fragments of the original Somnauth Jyotirlinga have resurfaced after one thousand years since its temple, located in the State of Gujarat, India, was invaded and plundered by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1025 CE. According to recorded history, when Mahmud of Ghanzi invaded the Somnauth temple, the linga was shattered in pieces. However, fragments of it were levitating and were collected by a group of Agnihotri priests who kept them secretly for generations.
In a social media post, the Art of Living Foundation stated that, “in 1924, the then Kanchi Shankarachaarya asked the priests to keep it hidden for 100 years, and then take it to Gurdev in Bengaluru”. According to the post, the prophesy was fulfilled in January 2025 when the fragments of the Linga were handed over to the Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji.
Gurdev Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji plans to re-consecrate the Linga at its original place in the Somnauth Temple in Gujurat where people can come for grace and blessing but not after giving it a tour across India.
In the Sanatanee culture, the Shivalinga is a source of concentrated divine energy and a representation of cosmic flow of life. There are twelve Jyotirlingas namely: Somnath, Mallikarjuna, Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Kedarnath, Bhimashankar, Vishwanath, Trimbakeshwar, Vaidyanath, Nageshwar, Rameshwaram, and Grishneshwar located at diffrenent places across India.
