HSS Guyana and Yoga Hub observe International Day of Yoga, 2025
Yoga, much like the environment we live in, is a balance of stillness and movement, strength and softness. Each asana reflects something elemental: the Tree Pose roots us to the earth, the Mountain Pose rises steadily and tall, the Cobra awakens energy like the morning sun. Just as rivers flow without resistance and trees bend with the breeze, yoga teaches us to move with grace and resilience through life.

Yoga brings the oneness in all of us, unification, and strength. Those were some of the words echoed by H.E. Dr. Amit Telang, High Commissioner of India, at the HSS and Yoga Hub IDY 25 celebration, which was held at the compound of the Cornelia Ida Temple / Saraswati Vidya Niketan.

In another remark, Sri Pandita Dhanrajie, from the Guyana Arya Samaj Organisation, underscored the importance of yoga and diet; the food we eat is what we become. Ayurvedic nutrition is very important in one’s mental and physical well-being, and one must ensure that we show love to the mind and body for a healthy lifestyle.
Yoga experts, Ms. Teerandai Haripersaud from the Yoga Hub, led the Yoga-asana session while Mr. Mohit Maan, Yoga Instructor from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (formerly Indian Cultural Centre), offered support during the one-hour intense exercises.

The event ended with a yoga challenge, an exhibition (by Yoga Hub), and the distribution of books by the High Commission of India.
HSS Guyana expresses its appreciation to the High Commission of India, Yoga Hub, Guyana Arya Samaj Org, and its members who braved the inclement weather and horrendous traffic to make the event a success.
International Day of Yoga was suggested to United Nations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his maiden address to the Assembly in 2024 as Prime Minister of India. Subsequently, the motion was unanimously adopted declaring International Day of Yoga each year on June 21.
