Karthik Snaan is observed today
Today is the observance of Karthik Snaan or the holy bath in the Hindu month of Karthik. It is like so many other Hindu orthodox observances that continue to be observed with increasing fervor and celebration. It remains relevant to both the Bhakta (devotee) and the ardent seeker of self realization. Holy bath, Sri Ganga Aarati and Pooja are central activities of the occasion. They fill the atmosphere with divine aura and festivities.
This day also recognizes the Matsya (Fish) Avatara of Maha Vishnu. Scientifically, the Matsya Avatara points to the evolution of life forms beginning form unicellular organism in water and evolve ultimately to the developed human being. This, this day honors and worship the Lord Maha Vishnu.
May the grace of Divine Mother and Maha Vishnu be with us all.
